Steps for Severn Hospice
02.10.24
Throughout September, nine members of our team stepped up to a unique challenge – all in support of our client, Severn Hospice.
Our mission was for each team member to log 350,000 steps throughout the month – a whopping 3.15 million steps in total!
Severn Hospice
Severn Hospice have been providing care to people living with incurable illnesses for 35 years. They are with families from the moment they’re referred to its care, for as long as they need it, and the hospice does this all day, every day, for anyone who needs help in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, and Mid Wales.
Severn Hospice does this for free, but it is not without cost and it can’t happen without donations. For every £1 that’s donated, the hospice spends 87p directly on care – they use the remaining 13p to make another £1.
Last year, all those individual donations meant the hospice could be there for 3,000 local families.
Whilst they provide valuable support to patients and their families, Severn Hospice nurses walk an average of 10,000 steps every day. And so our goal was to take 10,000 steps for each of their 35 years.
We did it!
We put our best feet forward, and after 30 days, we can reveal our final total was…
3,202,057 steps!
We’re delighted to be showing our support for Severn Hospice this way. Walking has such a positive impact on a person’s health, both physically and mentally, and it’s certainly made us even closer as a team. It’s been great fun, comparing tallies every day and carrying out our morning meetings with a quick stroll around the Quarry.
But that’s not the end…
Whilst the challenge may be over, we still want to raise as much as we can for Severn Hospice.
