Local branding expertise drives transformation of Shrewsbury College’s visual identity

[Shrewsbury, 18 September 2025] – Source, a leading brand and design agency based in Shrewsbury, has successfully developed a new, comprehensive visual identity for one of the region’s major further education providers, helping Shrewsbury Colleges Group transform into the newly named Shrewsbury College.

The new brand identity and college name has gone live from the beginning of September to coincide with the new student intake and represents a significant milestone in the college’s evolution and commitment to serving the regional student community.

Working closely with senior leadership, teachers and students at the college, Source conducted in-depth discovery sessions to understand the reasons and motivations behind the rebrand before working on a range of creative outcomes. The Shrewsbury-based agency then developed a complete new visual identity, including logo, colour palette and tone of voice that reflects the college’s values, regional importance and position in the community.

“This project shows the calibre of creative work happening right here in Shropshire,” said Paula Savage, director of Source. “Through our discovery process, we were able to get under the skin of what makes Shrewsbury College unique, and we translated that into a visual identity that truly represents the college’s commitment to students and its important place in the wider community.

Nick Richardson, director of Source, comments on the importance of working together and the unique connection the agency has with the college: “Co-creation was at the heart of our approach – this is the College’s brand identity, and it had to both resonate and be championed by all of the key stakeholders.

“We have several former students of Shrewsbury College working at Source and so this project has been especially important to us, and we are really proud of the end result.”

The new visual identity addresses the college’s need for a simpler, more accurate representation of its structure and standing within Shropshire’s education landscape. While maintaining continuity for students and staff; the new identity positions the college for future growth and flexibility.

The comprehensive rebrand is being rolled out across all college touchpoints from September 2025, including updated signage, digital platforms, and marketing materials, ensuring a seamless transition for the September student intake.

“We are hugely excited about the college’s new brand look,” comments Mike Needham, Director of Communications, Admissions and Marketing at Shrewsbury College. “Working with the team at Source has been a pleasure.  They have got under the skin of what we needed to achieve, and they delivered something that is something we can be proud of for many years to come.”

The project demonstrates the strength of Shropshire’s creative industries and highlights how local creative expertise, and experience can drive significant transformation and impact.
