Career paths come full circle

The career path of a Shropshire businesswoman has come full circle after taking on a new member of staff.

Sally Atkinson, managing director of Shrewsbury-based Source, a brand and communication consultancy, has recently recruited Kit Evans, of Broseley.

Sally’s career in design began exactly 20 years ago when she was offered a week’s work experience by Kit’s father Julian, who ran a design consultancy in Telford.

“Little did I realise then that two decades later I would be taking on his son Kit, who was then a toddler,” said Sally, who was employed by Julian for three years after her initial week.

After widening her design and marketing experience at another Shropshire agency she launched her own company Source and now employs a team of design, web and marketing specialists at her College Hill offices.

Kit, who gained an BSc in computer animation and special effects at the University of Bradford, was also offered a week’s work experience at Source but impressed Sally so much that he has been offered a full time post specialising in web design, Flash animation, graphics and video editing.

Sally added: “It’s an amazing turn around but I’m delighted to have Kit on board – he is a valuable addition to our team. There is an increasing demand from our clients for ever more sophisticated and striking web design so Kit can help us to meet this.”
